Mini Review: Nosferatu
Director Robert Eggers and #Nosferatu are a perfect match, with the film excelling in its eerily stunning visuals & consistently atmospheric and haunting tone. But its narrative & characters, while still captivating, feel oddly simple, particularly given its rich source material.

Mini Review: The Brutalist
#TheBrutalist is masterful in its filmmaking, with incredible vision, style, score & performances, especially from lead Adrien Brody. It’s divisive 2nd half is where it loses me, but there are moments of true magic that unfold that are truly breathtaking. In theatres now!

Mini Review: Babygirl
#BabygirlMovie is not going to be for everyone, as an erotic thriller following a woman with a unique sexual disposition. But you can’t deny how impressive both Nicole Kidman & Harris Dickinson are in this well paced, tense & unafraid feature from Halina Reijn. In theatres Dec 25

Mini Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Y’know, I can’t say it’s an exceptional movie, but the #SonicMovie3 is a lot of fun, and that’s all it has to be. With its adorable cast, goofy antics, meta-humour, over-the-top action & Jim Carrey doing his thing – it’s like a slightly more refined Despicable Me. Can’t complain!

Mini Review: Flow
It’s impossible to not fall in love with Latvia’s #Flow and its lovable cast of characters, all of whom don’t need any dialogue to capture your heart. Beautiful animation. A simple yet powerful narrative. Animation at its finest.

Mini Review: September 5
It’s deeply unsettling being a fly on the wall in #September5, a retelling of the events of the Munich 1972 Olympic Games from the view of ABC reporters. But as a film nerd it’s just so captivating, with a kinetic edit, carefully crafted script & fantastic cast. A great watch!

Mini Review: Kraven the Hunter
Marking the end of an era, #KravenTheHunter is at least a coherent & entertaining watch. But I’ll never quite understand Sony’s obsession with mysticism, an over-serious tone, & heavy-handed dialogue that’s riddled throughout its Spider-Man Universe. But at least it’s over now!

Mini Review: Queer
The #QueerMovie has all the makings of an incredible work of art, with a visionary director Luca Guadagnino, a strong lead in Daniel Craig & Drew Starkey, & a top notch score from Reznor & Ross. But it loses me in its overindulgent narrative, structure & pacing. It’s an odd one!

Mini Review: La Cocina
#LaCocina, a visually stylish peak behind the curtain of a busy NYC restaurant, is deliciously frenetic during its service, but really shines in its quiet, vulnerable in-between moments. A stronger character focus would have been welcomed, but it’s a captivating film nonetheless.

Mini Review: Moana 2
Disney’s #Moana2 feels a bit over familiar, attempting to match its original almost beat for beat, even down to its overall less memorable musical numbers. While it doesn’t achieve nearly the same success, it still lands some emotional punches amidst its rushed storyline.
