Mini Review: Marty Supreme
Timothée Chalamet is certainly commanding in the lead role of #MartySupreme, and really shines when the arrogant facade breaks. But overall, while the film captivates over its run time, I’m still feel lost in my dislike of the protagonist and the multiple weaving plot lines.

Mini Review: Is This Thing On?
Who would’ve thought the male version of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel would be a whole lot sadder? But somehow Bradley Cooper manages to find a nice amount of warmth in #IsThisThingOn, a grounded take on a divorce story. Arnett and Dern play off each other so well. Well worth a watch.

Mini Review: Song Sung Blue
Awful hair aside, #SongSungBlue is the right amount of comforting, if you can make it past the awkward start & the jarring tonal shifts. That said, Kate Hudson really nails it, and there’s enough charisma between her and Jackman to make you overlook the rougher parts of the film.

Mini Review: Jay Kelly
There’s a sincerity to Clooney’s performance in #JayKelly that is surprising & welcomed, and turns a film that should be wholly unrelatable into something oddly moving. And while there’s a surprising lack of climax to the script, the end still manages to feel satisfying.

Mini Review: After The Hunt
Somehow, Luca Guadagnino’s #AfterTheHunt has a whole lot to say but also nothing much that’s new, insightful or provocative. And despite its monstrously talented cast, everyone’s just so damn unlikable that its hard to find anyone to root for let alone keep your attention.

Mini Review: The Secret Agent
There’s something so captivating with Wagner Moura’s performance in #TheSecretAgent, bringing such charisma & heart to the film, and grounding its complex, weaving narrative. The final act is a bit jarring. But overall, it’s a great watch – stylish, kinetic and a great score.

Mini Review: Zootopia 2
Disney’s #Zootopia2 manages to capture the same energy as the original and feels like a welcomed expansion of the Zoo-niverse. But while it doesn’t quite feel as novel as the first, there’s still a lot to enjoy, from its pun-filled script, lovable characters, and snappy pace.

Mini Review: Thursday Murder Club
Netflix’s #ThursdayMurderClub plays like a comforting television show, with its spunky characters, a good amount of levity, and some charming twists & turns. But the third act feels a bit too scattered & unsatisfying, and much of the stacked cast feels a tad wasted.

Mini Review: Nuremberg
The cruelties of war are always painful to watch, but #Nuremberg does a good job of depicting these carefully & thoughtfully. And Crowe is decidedly excellent. But the final courtroom scene is a bit underwhelming, and the ultimate message, while poignant, feels a bit muddled.

Mini Review: Hamnet
Full body chills persist past the end of my #Hament screening. Chloe Zhao brings her signature haunting beauty to the film, anchored by expert performances from Paul Mescal, Jessie Buckley and the whole cast. I dare say it’s a masterpiece. In theatres this weekend.
