Mini Review: Bob Marley: One Love
The Bob Marley biopic #OneLoveMovie is anchored by solid lead performances from both Kingsley Ben-Adir & Lashana Lynch, but struggles to find its message in its several plot points it attempts to hit but never quite nails. Will entertain & inspire nonetheless. In theatres now!

Mini Review: Madame Web
Oh boy #MadameWeb, the Spider-Man spin-off no one asked for, at least did it’s job of making me want to see another movie starring its young future spider trio. But it’s otherwise not great. A true better-than-Morbius turn off your brain & enjoy kind of movie. In theatres today!

Mini Review: Perfect Days
Wim Wenders’ #PERFECTDAYS perfectly captures the small beautiful moments that come from everyday life. While it may be too quiet or leisurely paced for some, those who stick it out are rewarded with meditative bliss. Truly had a smile on my face the whole time. In theatres now.

Mini Review: Lisa Frankenstein
I get what they were going for in #LisaFrankenstein with the 80s campy aesthetic and quirky performances, but with the PG-13 rating the humour, gore, and shock just seem watered down, and the pacing slow as snails. It’s a miss for me. In theatres now.

Mini Review: How to Have Sex
#HowToHaveSex is an honest portrayal of youth party culture, that’s incredibly authentic in its sober moments. As a coming of age story the catharsis is shortlived, but lead Mia McKenna-Bruce is a revelation. A solid debut from director Molly Manning Walker. Watch @TIFF_NET now.

Mini Review: The Movie Emperor
Andy Lau’s #TheMovieEmperor is sure to entertain any fan of the iconic actor this #ChineseNewYear weekend. While as a satire on cancel culture the movie ultimately feels tame, Lau makes up for it with his deft self-deprecating performance. Seen at #TIFF23, in theatres Friday.

Mini Review: Bobi Wine The People’s President
#BobiWineThePeoplesPresident, the latest Oscar-nom’ed doc from NatGeo is yet another incredible look at a harrowing political reality. Focusing on the fight for democracy in Uganda, it deftly balances tension with its inspiring subject & his music. Watch on @DisneyPlus

Mini Review: Argylle
From Matthew Vaughn and Apple, #ArgylleMovie is silly, fun & energetic, but sadly that’s about it. Vaughn’s stylized action sequences are there but ultimately feel super toned down and overproduced. Not even it’s twisty plot and high-calibre ensemble can save it. In theatres now.

Mini Review: To Kill a Tiger
Canada’s @NishaPahuja takes us on a provocative & cathartic legal journey in @tokillatigerdoc, told through the eyes of a resilient father of a 13-year-old victim of sexual violence in rural India. A doc filled with tension, bravery & ultimately hope. Watch for free in ๐จ๐ฆ @thenfb

Mini Review: The Greatest Night in Pop
#TheGreatestNightInPop, fresh off of Sundance, is a rare peak behind the curtain of the creation of We Are the World. With a focus on exactness, it doesn’t quite transcend its medium, but is sure to fascinate fans of music production or 80s popstars in general. Stream @netflix.
